Progress at KOFY project in San Francisco
Work began at the beginning of September on a survey to be sent to every KOFY Club subscriber

21 September 2011

Work began at the beginning of September on a survey to be sent to every KOFY Club subscriber. The objective is to get their feedback about additional and advanced Television Anytime Anywhere services that could integrate content from KOFY onto different devices and at times which are outside of their standard broadcast schedule. The key outcomes included the creation of a 10 question survey and also the alignment of future focus groups with the engineering department of Motive’s Television Anytime Anywhere technology. The timeline is as follows:

•   Beginning of October: streaming of selected KOFY programmes over an iPad/iPhone (service available in KOFY lab since September 15th)

•   Beginning of November: download of selected KOFY programmes over an iPad/iPhone

•   Beginning of December: streaming of live KOFY broadcast channels over an iPad/iPhone

The survey was distributed on Monday, September 12th.  On the following day and in record time, Motive Television engineers successfully installed the entire Television Anytime Anywhere platform.  KOFY is now able to test and evaluate both Television Anytime and Television Anywhere technologies independently and in their own labs. The platform is flexible enough to be remotely upgraded with additional features as and when they are rolled out by the engineering department.

On September 21st, we will meet with KOFY to evaluate the results of the survey and define the work necessary to launch the first focus group. During this session, and based on the results of the survey, we will also agree on which programmes should be selected from the KOFY portfolio to be streamed to the iPod/iPhone as part of an initial test. This test will then be made available to a selected group of users who originally participated in the survey.
