Motive Television plc has been formed to acquire businesses in the independent television production sector. The management of Motive Television plc is a team of proven and experienced industry executives that intends to use its experience of mergers and acquisitions in the television sector to identify profitable businesses with growth potential. Motive Television PLC floated on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) in May 2005. It will be an acquirer of target companies in the independent television production sector. The Directors expect to raise additional finance either through raising debt and/or through the issue of further equity to complete any acquisitions the Company may identify. Michael Pilsworth has worked in the television industry since 1979. From 1993 to 2002 he was CEO of Chrysalis Television, having founded the company from start-up as a new division of the Chrysalis Group plc. Michael built the company through both organic growth and a large number of mergers and acquisitions. Chrysalis withdrew from the television sector in 2003 and sold Chrysalis Television for £51 million to a management buy-in group backed by Bridgepoint Capital. At the time of the sale the division’s annual turnover was £87 million with annual ebitda of £8.4 million. Prior to joining Chrysalis in 1993, Michael was from 1990 Managing Director of SelecTV plc, a USM-listed independent television production company that was sold to Pearson and MAI/UNM in 1996 for £40 million, the company’s shares having risen from 7p to 34p. He began his career at LWT and in 1986 became Controller of Corporate Development at TVS, responsible for mergers and acquisitions. Ian Carysfort Buckley, A.C.A. – Finance Director Ian Buckley was Finance Director of SelecTV plc and helped bring about its sale to Pearson. He is a chartered accountant with wide experience of the independent TV production and distribution sector. Since leaving SelecTV in 1996 he has run his own merger and acquisitions consultancy, Carysfort, specializing in the independent TV production sector.
